Wikipedia is the free online encyclopedia. It is written collaboratively by volunteers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia
The wiki-approach allows content to be changed by anyone with access to the website, subject to some review safegaurds to protect against false information.
In the not too distant future, patent applications in the U.S. will go through the wiki-approach. While the details are still being worked out, reviewers all over the Internet will be able to evaluate and comment on the patent application – giving the patent office a wealth of expert comment. Reviewers will also be able to rate and comment on each other’s comments as a way to prevent abuse of the process. Corporate sponsors include IBM, Microsoft, and Hewlett-Packard.
With these big companies leveraging a free online resource, it seems obvious that business people and smaller companies should be able to gain a benefit as well.
I’d like to write an article with tips about how to use Wikipedia and the wiki-approach to gain information and expert insight on business topics.
So, I’m using the wiki-approach and asking for your input.
(1) How do you use Wikipedia?
(2) How confident are you in the accuracy of the information?
Afterall, the Wikipedia website states that "Information is sometimes unconfirmed and questionable, lacking proper sources that could legitimize articles."
If I use your tip, you’ll receive acknowledgement in the article and a thank you gift!
